چکیده

Anatomically corrected malposition of the great arteries is a congenital cardiac malformation in which the atria and ventricles are in concordant relation, as are the ventricles and great arteries, but the aorta is to the left of the pulmonary artery (1-position). The reported cases and our two patients have had situs solitus of viscera and atria. The aortic and pulmonary circulations are in series. We report successful surgical repair in 2 patients with associated large ventricular septal defects and pulmonary stenosis. In one the defect was posterior and in relation to the pulmonary al-tery which slightly overrode it. In the other the defect was anterior and the aorta overrode it. The developmental basis of these two examples of the same entity is probably different. An appropriate terminology and categorization that is useful surgically is presented.

Anatomically corrected malposition of great arteries

Anatomically corrected malposition of great arteries (ACMGA) is a rare form of congenital heart disease in which the great arteries arise above the anatomically correct ventricles but have abnormal spatial relationship. We report the case of a 26-year-old female with ACMGA and tunnel type of subaortic obstruction. The abnormal relationship and segmental arrangement necessitates systematic appro...

[A case of intracardiac repair for anatomically corrected malposition of the great arteries (S, D, L)].

A 5-year-old boy with anatomically corrected malposition of the great arteries (Van Praah's {S, D, L} arrangement type) associated with ventricular septal defect (malalignment conus type) and pulmonary stenosis underwent a biventricular repair. Subpulmonary stenosis was repaired by muscle resection of narrowing muscular subpulmonary conus through the right ventricle. The postoperative catheteri...

Newly revised category for complex congenital cardiac segmental connections.

In the last article [1], we grouped complex congenital cardiac defects into four subgroups with the rules of cardiac segmental coding [2]. Recently, we found some incongruities presented in these categories, so a newly revised edition (Table 1) to correct the concept is mandatory for the many readers. There are no changes in the group of atrioventricular (AV) and ventricular-arterial (V-A) conc...

Anatomically corrected malposition of the great arteries: two case reports.

Anatomically corrected malposition of the great arteries (ACMGA) is defined as parallel arising of aorta and main pulmonary artery (PA) roots although ventriculoarterial connection is normal. Abnormally related aorta arises from the left ventricle, while abnormally related PA arises from the right ventricle. It can be diagnosed with via echocardiography. In some cases, additional imaging modali...

The differential diagnosis of levo-transposed or malposed aorta. An angiocardiographic study.

The levo-transposed aorta has previously been considered diagnostic of corrected transposition of the great arteries and hence ventricular inversion in situs solitus. Increasing experience with conotruncal abnormalities has shown that an abnormally leftward aorta may be found in patients with normally related ventricles (D-ventricular loop) and hemodynamically complete transposition of the grea...
